In Bhopal, India, people know DOW CHEMICAL as the company responsible for the foul-smelling, poisonous water that comes out of the pumps. In Vietnam, people know Dow Chemical as the company that made Agent Orange, which was dumped by the millions of gallons from US planes during the war, burning straight through the skin and contaminating the soil.
Meanwhile, DOW CHEMICAL is spending millions as the main sponsor of Live Earth to make YOU think they are a 'green' company. Live Earth is a series of events with the aim of helping to 'solve the water crisis.' The runs are 6km, the distance the average woman in a developing nation walks daily for water. The fact that Dow, a corporation responsible for poisoning water sources all over the world, is sponsoring these events and influencing the information distributed at them is beyond irony; it is deceitful propaganda.
DON'T LET THEM BUY YOUR MIND. LEARN more about Dow and the impacts of their pollution. Sign our PETITION against Dow’s sponsorship. Find a Live Earth event happening near you and TAKE ACTION to expose Dow’s ongoing destruction of our health and environment in the name of profit.
ACT- Counter Action Toolkit
Join us in exposing Live Earth as a heinous act of greenwashing! Stand in solidarity with the people of Bhopal against this corporate propaganda! Here’s how you can get involved….
Live Earth will consist of 6 km runs/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to secure water), concerts and water education activities. We want to counter Dow’s propaganda by spreading the word about Dow’s crimes in Bhopal and beyond to those attending Live Earth events.
- Use our stencils to make t-shirts, signs, banners, tags, headbands, etc. (More stencils to come...) Attend a Live Earth event near you wearing an anti-Dow t-shirt under another t-shirt. when the race starts, take off your first layer, revealing a badass anti-Dow slogan! Then walk slowly to display the message
- Hand out flyers about water contamination in Bhopal and Dow’s history of environmental violence
- Document your actions and send pictures to ICJB to show international solidarity justiceinbhopal@gmail.com
- Truly help solve the water crisis by donating to ICJB, a grassroots organization composed of survivors of the Bhopal gas leak and environmentalists worldwide working to ameliorate the crisis in Bhopal as well as deter similar corporate crimes.
